With spring nearly in full swing – hopefully without any more freak snowstorms – Syracuse is starting to warm up. Check out some of these weekend events to celebrate the sun.

Event: Conversation with the Kirsts
When: Thursday, 5:30 p.m.
Where: The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology
Desc.: Former Post-Standard columnist Sean Kirst and his son, writer Seamus Kirst, will speak about storytelling and their lives as writers in central New York. They will be available afterward for a book signing.

Event: St. Sophia Philoptochos Annual Easter Bake Sale
When: Friday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church
Desc.: Eat delicious Greek delicacies like Tsoureki, kourabiedes and pasta flora. Sales will go toward supporting philanthropic causes.

Event: 1st Annual Syracuse Man Show
When: Friday to Saturday, 5-10 p.m.
Where: New York State Fairgrounds
Desc.: If you like hunting, cars, fishing, motorcycles, snowmobiles, gaming and craft beer, you may enjoy the 1st Annual Man Show. It’s “everything manly under one roof.”

Event: April Sensory Friendly Time
When: Friday, 5:30-7:30 p.m
Where: The Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science & Technology
Desc.: Turning off flashing lights, shutting off air compressors, and turning down the general noise of the museum, staff hope to create an enjoyable environment for individuals with sensory processing challenges. Explore exhibits like Space Gallery and the Planetarium.



Event: New York Spring Dairy Carousel
When: Friday to Monday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: New York State Fairgrounds
Desc.: One of the largest spring dairy events in North America, the New York Spring Dairy Carousel will feature all seven dairy breeds. Admission and parking is free.

Event: Cabernet Cascade
When: Saturday, 7 p.m.
Where: Painting with a Twist: 3179 Erie Blvd E, Suite 131, Syracuse, NY 13214
Desc.: Calling all wine enthusiasts: Channel your inner artist while you paint pictures of wine and drink it at the same time.

Event: Gabriel Iglesias
When: Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Where: The Oncenter Complex
Desc.: The comedian, also known as “Fluffy,” will bring his “FluffyMania World Tour: 20 Years of Comedy” to Syracuse. Iglesias has made appearances in movies including Magic Mike and has sold more than 2 million DVD copies of his comedy specials.

Event: Twiddle
When: Saturday, 9 p.m.
Where: The Westcott Theater
Desc.: This Vermont-based quartet sings everything from classical to bluegrass and will be stopping here on its tour. Rock band Midnight North will open for Twiddle.
